John Ntim Fordjour, the Member of Parliament for Assin South, has called for the immediate dismissal of the Director General of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), accusing him of negligence, spreading lies, and complicity in promoting an LGBTQ+ agenda through contentious school teacher manuals.
Rev. Fordjour listed three reasons for the dismissal during a Wednesday, January 14, 2025, visit on JoyNews’ AM Show.
He declared, “The Director General of NaCCA must be fired for three reasons: first, sleeping on the job; second, participating in this grand LGBT agenda; and third, coming to tell falsehoods to Ghanaians.”
Definitions of sex, sexuality, and sexual orientation in a physical education teacher’s handbook given to schools are at the center of the controversy. The MP said that NaCCA had insufficient control, permitting the content to be produced, distributed, and taught for two weeks prior to any remedial action.
He dismissed NaCCA’s claim of previous review as deceptive, pointing out that the controversial definitions are still there in the so-called updated version, which was only changed following public exposure.
He claimed, “As we speak, their so-called revised version, which they edited yesterday, still bears the definition of sex, sexuality, and sexual orientation as pertaining to this book.”
Pre-printing attention is crucial, according to Rev. Ntim Fordjour.
“A review should be done before the book is even printed if they did a good job and didn’t sleep on the job, or if it wasn’t their intentional agenda. When something has already been printed incorrectly, distributed, enforced, and taught in the classroom for two weeks, you don’t do reviews,” he stated.
