Black Stars to face Germany in pre-World Cup friendly on March 30

The Black Stars of Ghana will take on four-time world champions Germany in an international friendly match on Monday, March 30, 2026, in Stuttgart.

The encounter is part of the preparations for both teams ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Ghana, under the guidance of Hamburg-born coach Otto Addo – a former Borussia Dortmund player who won the Bundesliga title in 2002 and earned 15 caps for the Black Stars – will use the game to fine-tune their squad.

Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann expressed excitement about the fixture.

“We are very much looking forward to the clash with Otto’s team. Their strong transition play can give us a taste of what to expect in the World Cup group match against Ivory Coast,” he said.

Black Stars coach Otto Addo also shared his enthusiasm.

”This is an amazing opportunity for us to test ourselves against one of the best teams in the world. Germany are a good side, and we can’t wait to face them in Stuttgart,” he said

The Black Stars qualified impressively as winners of their CAF qualifying group for the 2026 World Cup and have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama.

The four-time African champions have previously met Germany on three occasions.

Their first meeting was a friendly in Bochum in 1993, where Germany won 6-1. At the World Cup level, Germany edged a 1-0 victory in the 2010 group stage in South Africa, while the teams played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in the 2014 group stage in Brazil.

The match will kick off at 8:45 pm local time in Stuttgart.
