The Bekwai Circuit Court sentenced a 30-year-old man to 30 years in prison with hard labor for his involvement in an armed robbery at a mining site in Manso Akwasiso, Ashanti South Region, in 2022.
Dominic Ofori, also known as Fanta, was apprehended on February 16, 2026, after nearly four years of escaping capture. He pleaded guilty to robbery in violation of Section 149 of the Criminal Offences Act of 1960 (Act 29) and was sentenced to 30 years in jail with hard labor.

Following the tip, the police launched a surveillance operation and set up an ambush at the place. At about 5:30 p.m. that day, four armed men arrived, fired randomly to terrify the miners, and then robbed them of the gold concentrate.
